About VerbCompass

A focused companion for learning Spanish verbs.

VerbCompass was created to make Spanish verb reference and study clearer, faster, and easier to personalize.

Why VerbCompass exists

Spanish learners often encounter a verb or conjugated form in the middle of a lesson, reading passage, conversation, or assignment and need more information before they can continue.

That information may be scattered across dictionaries, conjugation websites, grammar references, and personal notes. VerbCompass brings those tasks together in one focused app.

Learners can look up a verb, inspect its forms, compare tenses, save it for later, and build study sessions around the material they are currently learning.

Why focus on verbs?

Verbs carry much of the meaning in a sentence, but they are also one of the most demanding parts of Spanish.

Learners must understand not only the infinitive, but also changes in tense, mood, person, number, irregularity, reflexive use, and context.

VerbCompass is designed to help learners work with:

  • More than 2,600 Spanish verbs
  • Complete simple, compound, and imperative forms
  • Regular, irregular, and reflexive verbs
  • Approximate CEFR learning levels from A1 through C2
  • Custom study lists and focused practice sessions

Explore. Customize. Study.

Explore

Search by infinitive, conjugated form, or English meaning. Use Reference to understand unfamiliar verbs and compare forms across tenses.

Customize

Save verbs from lessons, reading, homework, or personal study to a Custom Verb Pool. Choose the levels, pronouns, tenses, and verb types that match your goals.

Study

Practice through focused study cards and manageable chunks rather than trying to memorize the entire verb library at once.

Designed to complement real learning

VerbCompass is not intended to replace a teacher, structured course, textbook, classroom, or language-learning program.

It is designed to work beside them—providing deeper verb information and customizable practice when a learner needs more support.

VerbCompass can support:

  • Independent learners
  • Students using language-learning apps
  • Classroom and homework study
  • Tutoring and study groups
  • Reading and vocabulary development
  • Intermediate and advanced grammar review

Private and focused

VerbCompass is designed without advertising, account requirements, behavioral analytics, or the sale of personal information.

Study progress and preferences remain on the learner’s device, allowing the app to stay focused on learning rather than data collection.

The future of VerbCompass

The Spanish-for-English-speakers web edition offers a direct way to experience VerbCompass as a reference and study companion.

The Android app is the next step. Before its public release, a small group of Founding Testers will use VerbCompass during real Spanish study and help refine its navigation, explanations, study behavior, and overall learning experience.

The first public release will support English-speaking learners of Spanish. What we learn from the Spanish web edition and the Android test will also help establish the foundation for the next intended direction: helping Spanish-speaking learners understand, organize, and practice English verbs.

That future English experience will be designed around the particular challenges English verbs present to English learners rather than simply translating the current Spanish app.
